HOT

It's going to give a hot one here today.yeasterday they said it would be a top of 35 (93) expected but today's paper is saying that they are expecting a top of 40 (104).
A total fire ban has been declared. I hope no fires are started, and that we don't have a repeat of the fires we had a few years ago.
After a couple of years of rain we have a lot of bush growth and conditions are perfect for terrible fires.
So if your in Victoria today stay hydrated and cool. For those in WA I hope the winds calm down for you and if you have  been affected by the power outtages that it gets turned on soon.
For those in NSW and QLD stay cool too. Looks like summer has finally hit.

A dancing weekend

Yesterday baby girl was in two concerts and today she is one. They are not the same she has different dances in each one. So If I wanted to see all her dances I had to get tickets to all three concerts. I don't mine except sitting in those chairs is not good for the body. Still it get expensive and I wonder if it's not just a money making scheme for the dance school. But as a parent I suffer and go.
How are your Christmas predations going? Christmas is here this year and I really cannot think about it yet. Not until baby girls engagement party is over. That's on the 1st of December , once thats done I can turn my attention to chrismas. It's going to be at Harley's parents home I'm in charge of drinks, salads and the engament cake. I have ordered it and will be picking it up the day before I hope. Will post pics of it when I can.
It's going to be busy the nest few weeks.

I wonder

I wonder what it would be like to live with someone who truly thinks like you do. I am not a spender and I just wantj to pay down debt and live a simple life. This has always been my goal.
Unfortunately hubby wants to build an empire and being In debt is no big deal for him. He has done a deal and traded in his car, which we paid off and owned, and has bought and brand new one. This means we will now after the trade in, owe money on.
He works hard and he deserves everything he wants but as. Get older I question the wisdom of this. Between this and the investments we have, for tax purposes I keep getting told, I don't see us every really retiring.
I just want to know relax and enjoy the fruits of our labours. Is this wrong?
Maybe I'm just winging and should be grateful for all we have but I see so many people who don't ever get a chance to enjoy their lives, that I'm really questioning the choices he has made. He won't listen to me because I don't understand.
Maybe I don't but I know what I wanted in life and I've achieved it. I've raised my family paid off my home and now I want to play.

Why can't he understand that!

Nasty flu

I have been hit by the flu bug. Hubby and everyone at the shed have had it and I avoided them all. But I couldnt avoid hubby. I made him sleep in the spare room for two nights and on the third he sneaked into bed. He says he cant sleep without me! I on the other hand sleep like a log without him. lol anyway thanks to that little stunt i now have it. I feel all cotton wool in the head, my nose and sinus are blocked and I cant stop coughing and sneezing.
Glands are all up and im dizzy and hot and cold. But thats ok at least hubby got to sleep.
Grrrrr
hope you all have a great weekend, we will be lighting our bonfire for beltain tomorrow and both my kids and their partners are coming over for a bbq lunch to watch the fire burn.

Hello out there!

Hello everyone, yes I'm still alive and kicking. The weather here in Melbourne has been crazy to say the least. We had one day of 27degrees Celsius and then it got cold and wet again. Hubby has got the worst flu ever and so have have the mechanics in the area. I think the parts delivery girls are spreading it hahah. But seriously it's not a good one. I think I'm the healthiest person around at the moment and that's saying something.
Apart form the wild weather and sickness things have been going along. Wonders on is still here waiting for his. Ok to fly up to Queensland he is excited me not so much, but I'm handling. I think he knows this is going to be hard on me and he has been spending more time here with us visiting. Sweet child that he is. Baby girl has been around too so life has been good. Me myself have been in all sorts of pain and misery with this changeable weather. I wish it would make up its mind and get on with it!
On the home produce side we have planted some tomatoes and cucumber and beet root. We are starting slow as I'm worried about frosts. Plus I'm really trying to stage my platings as I'm not able to deal with lots of excess produce as I used to. Part of the change things to be able to deal with them better now that I'm living with cronic illness. It's not too bad really as now its only two of us home we don't need as much anyway.
Hope to catch up with all your blogs today, unless the sun stays out I'm going to try and finish weeding the rose garden. Used to be able to do it in one day but now it's a three of four day project. Have a great rest of the weekend everyone

Rollin along

Well the days turn into weeks and now we are in October, it's amazing how quickly this year is moving along. Not to panic anyone but soon it will be Christmas!
Life has been very leisurely here, work is busy and with the days slowly getting nicer I have been venturing outside. Learning to live with illness has been hard, I was always so busy but now I just cannot do everything I want. So I've been making plans to get my place organised so it's easier for me to look after. As soon as these improvements are implemented I will post pics. On other news wonderson has applied and got a job on the mines. We don't know the actual start date but her will leave working with his dad and go off into the big world. I think this is a great opportunity for him to grow and get lots of experience. Also the money he can make is quite good so it will give him a great start in life.
So for now just letting you all know that life is good and I'm still here and I do get on and read your blogs, hopeing life is good for you too

spring

spring when the sounds of bird song is broken by the sounds of lawnmovers. Where trees burst into life, and the sacred dance between the bees and blossom produce new life.

Some babies basking in the warm sun, growning so that one day they will feed and maybe even procreate a new plant themselves.
And the new ewes only 5 mpnths old, sitting in the shade with full bellies growing so that one day soon they will meet the ram destined to mate and produce life anew!
and as for humans, well I often wonder why farmers keep farming. After drough, and floods and politics all affect their incomes placing strain on them and their families.
But I feel it in a sunny spring day, the quickening deep inside, the promise of things to come and I know what it is that keeps them farming.
HOPE!
the hope that this time we will be rewarded for our labouts.

Mending fences

with the spring coming the urge to go outside and work gets stronger. Our cow decided that the grass on the other side of the fence was much nicer than any in the 2.5acre paddock she was in so our fences need some maintance or before too long our sheep and cow would be able to just walk over it and come visiting whoever  or where ever they pleased.
These are wire strainers and the are vital to getting the fence as tight as you can. we first straightend the square wire fence as it had been pushed down and then added a new straight wire. here we are straining it as tight as we can. we then tied it off and connected it to the fence to hold it up again and stop the cow from being able to push it down again.
we then strained the exsisting stright wire to make it tight again. you place the strainers on the wire, strain it slightly and cut the wire. then you add a special dohicky, thats the tecnical term for it, and place the two cut ends through it. now continure straining and the special dohicky keeps them together. simple!
now the fence is tight and straight again. I didnt get before shots as I was busy walking wire up and down and getting bits and bobs but believe me it looks much better.
Here I am driving the new toy, much easier getting stuff from one place to another than walking up and down carrying it. we just put it all in the bucket and drive there. we even took hay to the animals in the middle of the paddock so they can be there and not right near us annoying us while we were trying to work.
So I  really enjoyed being farmer Josaphine for the day.
we have more fences to mend but as they say tomorrow is another day!

It's a beautiful day but....

Hello everyone yes it a beautiful day and I'm sitting in my hammock chair typing this. It's windy but pleasant under the front veranda. But the weather man says its going to change this afternoon. S I must get wood and get the fire ready to light so that we are toasty warm when the cold snap hits again. I am grateful for the last few days, they have lifted my spirits and given me hope that winter will go and warm weather will come back.
Then you will get post about how bloody hot it is hahaha

Happy birthday wishes

Yesterday was hubby's 51st birthday. I took him out in the morning to get him a pair of real wool Aussie ugg boots. He loved them then he needed  to get his watch band fixed. Wouldn't you know it they need to seed it away so he justw got a new one for now and will sen the old one away.  We then needed to look at new wood splitters because our old one has finally died beyond resurrection . So he went off to do that. Buy this stage I was over the shooting thing so I stayed home. Just as I got comfy on the couch his mum and brother turned up to see him. So I had to entertain them until he got home. The kids both visited for their dads birthday and later on his other brother and his family popped in too. So it was a busy day full of spending money. Which hubby loves but I do not!
But anyway he had a great birthday.
As for me I just want a nice quiet Sunday today to get over it!

Hello

Hello everyone! I haven't been around much lately, sorry about that. I've been in a kind of funk since getting back home. Hubby has gone back to work with a vengeance and he has been working long hours. Hes loving every minute of it!
I've been home trying to get back into a routine. I've had a big crash and been in pain but I'm slowly getting better.
I hooe to catch up with you all in the nest few days. I have got some news that did through me, I will share as soon as I get confirmation and a few more details.
Just another chapter of my life closing, hopefully to allow an opening of a new and exciting one. Hope you are all happy and healthy.

bitch of the day

This morning I decided to head off into cranbourne to get the new huger games DVD .  Wasn't very crowded and I quickly found the DVD and a few $5.00 tops, hey you cant go past a bargain!
I headed to the check out and low and behold there was only one very slow boy working the registers.
Now they have those new self serve registers but I really don't like to use them as they take away jobs. But this poor boy had a line of about 5 people before I got there and he was looking very flustered.
Meanwhile all the self serve counters were empty. Looks like everyone else had the same idea as I did.
But after about 5 minutes waiting and the line not moving I admit I got sick of it and used the self serve check out.
I know I didn't do the cause much good but it would of taken me longer to wait to be served than it did to find a car park and get what I needed.
And this is what Kmart wanted to happen by only putting on one staff member to man the checkouts.
So what do you think should I have waited, what do you do?

There are huge weeds in all my gardens and we cant even mow as the backyard is like a swamp.
Its so bitterly cold and the winds are blustery.
Have I sooked enough? I hope you all have better weather where you are.

the final photos

this is an exact replica of stonehenge that someone built in Esperance. Sue who has been to the real stonehenge said it just did not feel the same. It was amazing but it just looked too new. So one day I will go and see the real one in England.

we saw some whales and their calfs, it was amazing how close to the shore they were. Right at the tip of the great australian bight, is the nursery for the southern right whales. They come here every year to give birth to their babies. I was very excited to see them but I would love to go on a cruise and get even closer. They have them down in tassie so next time Im down there I will book and hopefully get even closer photos to share with you all.
So that was the great holiday we have been planning for as long as we have been married. it was better than I even imagined and I have the bug. As soon as our van has been back to the manufacturers to get all its issues ironed out we will be planning the next trip. There is still so much of this great country of ours to see and experience

The road home

It's a chilly 5 degrees outside and I'm waiting for the kettle to boil for my morning tea. We are approx 8.5 hours away from home. We should really be on the road already but neither of us is in any hurry. I'm really not ready to get home and face reality yet, but I suppose I can't run away forever. This is the first holiday that I'm not in a hurry to get home from ever! I have really loved just going with the flow and not knowing what each day will bring. Most days I didn't even know what day it was!
But anyway for good or bad tonight I will be sleeping in my own bed at home. That's gotta be good right?

Yesterday we stopped on the road  so I could look at the great Australian bight, and we saw a whale. So I'm hopeing that today in ceduna we see some and I will be close enough to get some shots for you. Hope your all well, I'm not really ready to go home yet but I suppose I better go back to reality.

wave rock

Many years ago I was watching a show called Ask the Leyland Brothers. Many australians would know this show. It was two brothers and their familys traveling all over Australia and showing us what a wonderful country we lived in.
While watching this show I remember seeing they brothers at a place called Wave Rock. I loved this place and decided that one day I would go and see this massive rock for myself. I would of been about 8 years old and I have always remembered it.
well today I finally got there. It was just as amazing in real life.
Hubby remembered the same episode and he said he too had decided to visit this rock too because of it.
It really does look like a wave.
I hope you enjoy the photos.

monkey Mia

we spent a day at Monkey Mia. For those that dont know monkey mia is where a pod of dolphins have been coming in to be feed since the 60's. A crowd gathers when they come in and only about 3 lucky people are chosen to hand feed the dolphins. We decided to view them from the board walk and a couple acually swam past us and under the pier on the way out to see. In the top photo you can see don walking back to the pier from our camp site so we can get onboard of this sail boat and go on a three hour cruise.

/This is one of the many dolphins we saw but the are so quick you cannot get a good shot. on the cruise we also saw a huge turtle. it was very exciting. It was a sunny day but very windy, great for sailing but very cold.
If you are ever in this part of the world I hope you stop in its well worth it

update

we havnt had internet in a few days so here is a quick update for you. we visited a dish in carnavon that was used during the lunar landing in 1969. Buzz Aldran opened the museum and left his signature and finger prints in concrete for us.
This is the dish that is no longer in use its huge and we camped in the caravan park under it. Below is don in a replica of the acual module used by the astronoughts. Its very small and considering todays washing machines have more tech in them than the first lunar landing module kinda scary too

last night we stayed just outside monkey mia at Hamelin pool caravan park a short walk from the stromatolites. I have seen fozilised Stromatolites but never living ones. they were amazing.
so today we are at monkey mia and have already seen some dolphins that came in this morning to visit and get a feed. We are booking in for a cruise this after noon and with this company you also get a free sunset cruise too! Hopefully we will see more dolphines and some dugongs too
hope your having a great day

camel rides on cable beach

as promised here is a shot of Sue and I on our camel. The boys did not go for the camel ride but drove the 4x4's on the beach. it was a bit scary as they got up and again as they got down but as for the ride it was quite enjoyable. Better than horse riding I think.
The view of cable beach was amazing and the weather was a warm sunny 29degrees cel. Its something I will alway remember and I am very glad I did it!

broome

we are here at broome, in WA and we are lucky enough to be staying at stewart douglass' brothers crocodile farm.  Don is friends with steward and he offered us this place. our camp is about 10-15 meters from the crocs. if you dont know meters just take 10-15 large steps and thats approx it. above is a photo of one of our neighbours.below is a photo of camp from his cage.

at the Broome port this ship had just come in and so we took the long walk out to have a better look at her. hopefully next year, if I dont kill him first, hubby and I will be on one of these heading to new zealand for our 25th wedding anniversary.
we whent on a on a history talk about the pearl diving industry that started the town of Broome, and I tried on this helmet. we all had a go and when it was my turn they told me to make a funny face! luckily its on a stand, its very very heavy! I was chosen to be the model for this necklace of irregular pearls, dont they look great. They are worth $9,000.00. needless to say don said no I couldnt have them. Spoil sport.

And this little beauty is one of the largest pearls ever and is worth a cool $100,000.00. I didnt even pick it up I was too frightened I might drop it!
We had a great day and today we are booked in to go on a camel ride, so be ready for some funny shots of that!

A starry night

No photos today, they wouldn't have made justice to the sight I saw during the night. Do I will try and describe it to you. Sometime during the night it got windy and don was worried about the awning so we got up to roll it up. When the awning rolled up I looked up at the night sky. OMG I will try to help you see what I saw. Imagine a blueblack velvet piece of canvas, then imagine getting a couple of handfuls of silver glitter. Now throw the glitter accros the velvet like you were sowing seeds so thqy scatter in a starburst way! There were so many stars out I had never seen so many before. I stood and just look, it was amazing! The scene touched me and I understand Pythagoras saying there is music in the spheres of the stars. There was a majesty that I never really understood before. I watched for about two whole minutes and then reluctantly went back to bed. I hooe this makes sense to you, See ya

flight over kununara

here we are getting ready to take off, this red one is the plane Im going to go in.
the flights were so booked out that the only way we could go today was for me and don to be in seperate planes, I took this photo while I was in my plane and he was waiting to get onto his. he was a lucky boy and got to sit in the front with the pilot!
this is lake Argyle, the largest inland lake in australia! it was huge, it supplies water for irrigation and mining. its also used by the hydro electric plant. but its not used for drinking in kununara they use bore water for that.
these are the bungle bungles, they looked amazing. There were acres of them and they glisened in the sun.
This is a shot of the Argyle Diamond mine, unfortunately we didnt get any samples but its the largest diamond mine in the world.
I hope you had fun flying with me today, happy landings to you all
