Leaving on a jet plane

Well its 2.30am and I am up and ready to go! I had set my alarm for 3 but as usual I have been awake early, since 2.00am. I am so paranoid about sleeping through my alarm that I never get woken up by them, because I always wake up early.
We are picking up Leanne at 4ish and heading off to the airport. Hubby will drop us off and come back to start his day at work. Isnt he sweet!
We will meet her sister in law Bronwyn and fly out to Queensland. Bronwyns sister, and Leannes sister in law is getting married on saturday and we are all flying out for the big event.
I am not sure who is picking us up at the airport, I think the brides mother, and then we have an hours car ride to our destination.
Its going to be an exciting few days, no wonder I cant sleep.
Have a good weekend everyone, I hope the weather is great up north.

RIP Lilly

This is Lilly she was named by me because I bought her from a family with the last name of Potter!
she was my car for 3 years but we always planned for her to go to Stephanie when she got her license.
Steph looked after her and was happy to keep her for a few years yet. But unfortunately the accident happend.

The dints dont look so bad but the whole of the car has been crushed and the insurance comp has told us they will write the car off.
So Lilly is being picked up tomorrow and we will never see her again.
Very sad!
So now that we know how much they are giving us the hunt is on for a new baby, for my baby girl.
RIP Lilly you were a faithful girl and we loved you.

From the garden

The garden hasnt been the best this year with the weather being all over the place. We have harvested a few beans. This is the third lot we have collected and I have blanched and frozen them for use in stews during winter.
The tomatoes have finally started to ripen. We have lost of green ones on the vines, but the weather has been to cold for them to ripen. cucumbers are doing well and the capsicums and chillies are starting to come on too.
And finally for dessert, fresh strawberries. Yummo!
We pulled the last of the lettuces as they had gone to seed and fed them to the piglets and chooks.
so even though the weather has forgotton all about summer, we havnt done too bad.

In a jam!

My wonderful sister in law gave me a heap of plums so I made up some jam. For those in the USA plum jelly.
I only used up half the plums she gave me and I got 10 jars, and lots still left to eat.
Warning this is what happens when the jam spits at you. Very painful and Im sure I will get a scar as a reminder.
but all in all the jam is worth it as I am onto my last jar from last years crop.

a lovely day

I spent a lovely day with my two nieces today. I was staying with them for a few hours while their mum was a work. They were playing Donkey Kong and I watched, reminded me of when my two were younger. Then we had some lunch and watched a movie.
I thing it was called  "The spy who lived next door". It was a Jacky Chang one and was very funny.
It was nice to spend some time with the girls, they grow up so fast and it may be one of the few times left that I will have this one on one time with them before they grow up and do their own thing.
I will cherish this day for a long time'.

not happy Jan

For those in Australia you will remember the quote from the add, for everyone else just know that I am not happy.
On Friday baby girl was coming home from work, minding her own business had stopped at the lights when a car was pushed into her and she was pushed into the car in front. The car behind her was hit by the car behind him.
So it looks like her car is going to be written off. I am very happy that she and no one else were hurt but now I have given her my car to take to work, and although I had hubbys ute he has asked me to leave it with him as he needs it today.
So I am at home without transport. Luckily I dont need to go anywhere! But still not having a car makes me feel somehow trapped.
even to walk to the milkbar is 3klms away. So hopefully we will find out exactly what they are doing with her car, then if needs be purchase a new one for her and then I can get my wheels back.
Whats a mother to do.

This little piggy

Yesterday hubby and I travelled to Morwell to get us a couple of baby pigglets. Arnt they cute! We decided to get two girls this time and not keep them as long as we kept spit. If you have been a long time reader of this blog you would of met spit. when we took him to be butchered the guy told me that he was a very fat pig and that I had overfed him. I am a wog mama we overfeed everything!!
So as soon as I get some photos of the new girls I will not tell you what I have decided to call them. And no its not after food.
So for now I have two new babies to look after and as soon as they get used to me they will be allowed to free range out the back with the chooks. Can anyone tell me if the girls will damaga my fruit trees? I am a bit worried about them. I will have to just keep an eye on them then.

First day of 2011

The new year came in quietly here at home. Hubby and I stayed at home by ourselves and after seeing the new years fireworks on the telly were heading off to bed. unfortunately a farm  a few streets away had their own fireworks so we checked on all our animals to make sure the were ok.
If any of you have seen the movie babe, you will know that in that movie they have fireworks and the sheep just watch them fasinated. Well our sheep did the same. They all came out and lined up against the fence and watched the night sky. I nearly fell down laughing. It was so funny to see them all just lined up like that all looking up.
So seeing they were happy and amused we hit the bed. We woke this morning and decided to spend the day out on the water. It wasnt a great day weather wise, and the fishing wasnt the greatest. I did catch one small snapper. But it was good just to be out on the water and spend some quality time together without kids, customers and anyone demanding our attention.
So all in all this year has started better than I expected, with quiet, and laughter and quality time spent with the one I love.
Awww now Im getting mushy.
