Hanging with my friends

Feeding the Kangaroos, one of the highlights of the trip. We got a friendly Japanes tourist to take the shot so that we had at least one photo of the both of us together.
Great memories to last a lifetime.

Back home

Today Leanne and I returned home safe and sound. The final tally of Kilometers travelled was 3722 klms (2312 miles)
The weather in Queensland was warm and sunny for the most part. We had one day of rain but it was still not very cold. Not for us Victorians anyway.
We mainly stayed at home with Leannes sister in law, Narelle, but we did spend the Saturday at Australia Zoo. Crikey what a great place! We fed the Kangaroos and patted a Koala and even fed the elephants.
We had an absolute ball laughed so much we ended up with sore tummys.
Narelles place was so beautiful and we were spoilt having our dinner cooked for us everyday.
So now we are home and the weather here has turned cold and wet once again.
so I will put another log on the fire and curl up on the couch as I am very sleepy having been on the road from 5.30 this morning till 1.30 this afternood when I pulled in at home.

On the road again

Tomorrow bright and early Leanne and I are heading off on a road trip. We will be driving all the way to Brisbane to see her sister in law. I cant wait. She still has two chemo treatments to go but we both need this time away. So its just the girls and today we have been busy packing the car and buying food for the trip. To see how much food we have packed you would think we were going to be on the road for a week, but it is two full days to get there and we dont want to go hungry do we!!!!
We have some healthy food and lots and lots of lollies.
so once again I am leaving the home to the kids, and this time to hubby and I am going away from responcibility.
Good isnt it.
see you all when I get back, sometime next week
bye

The big wet

This winter has been the wettest I can remember for a long time. Our little dam is nearly overflowing and the paddocks next door are under water. All our water from the house flow into drains out the back and water the fruit trees and these are full. This hasnt happend for nearly 10 years. When we first moved here back 22 years ago, this was a regular event. Our paddock used to look like a lake. It was so bad we had to add fill.
It really is great to see all that water and know that the ground is so wet that the fruit trees will have lots to draw on this summer.
I only hope that the dam doesnt overflow! It has never been so full since we built it.
I hope you get all the rain you need, and if you dont need any then it stops raining for you.

My newest project

this is the first block in the new quilt Im making called "Back on the Farm"by Mckenna Ryan.
I absolutly loved it and had to get the pattern!
All I have to do now is machine stitch around all the pieces. I hope I will do it justice, I have never machine stitched applique before.
Its all a learning curve.

Salamanca Market

On Saturday morning we got up and went to the salamaca market. Its pretty famous and the last time we went to tassie we did not get to go. I had a ball just browsing and talking to the stall holders. One lady was making beanies from wool she had spun from coloured sheep her best friend raised.
we had breakfast at a little cafe in the market that sold organic freetrade food and it was delish!
Hubby really loved the guy pretending to be a statue, and one lady had a staring comp with him.
I dont know who won but the guy did shake her hand at the end and hubby was so impressed he put 5 dollars in his collection box.
We then headed off to Strahan. we stayed at a motel right on the water and we decided that we would come back and spend a few days there next time as it so beautiful and there is heaps to do.
More pic of Strahan tomorrow.

Hobart

In these photos we can see a view of Hobart from Mt Wellington, and a pic of the observation dock on top of the mountain.
It was very foggy, windy and cold, only 3degrees cel.
We also have photos of the room we stayed in, it was very warm and cosy.
And we have photos of constitution dock.
If you want to find out more on constitution dock here is a link to wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitution_Dock
Hobart is an old town and the building are all magnificent.
tomorrow we go to salamanca market.

we set sail

Ok blogger has done something to the photos so they look like text, so I will try to explaine them.
Here we have some shots of the Spirit of Tasmania including one of our room.
The shot of the boat is one I took in the dark, as we left late Thursday night.
The crossing over was really good and I slept most of the way. I always sleep when I get on a boat, must be that rocking motion, like being in someones arms. Lol.
We landed in Tassie the next morning around 7.ooam and we left Davonport about an hour later and headed straight down to Hobart. I wanted to be there for the market on Saturday Morning.
Its about a 3hr drive from Davonport to Hobart and it is a relaxing one.
Once we got to Hobart we found a motel and booked in for the night. Then we went exploring.
We visited Mt Wellington, and I got some great shots.
I will post these tomorrow.

Spirit of Tasmania

Hello to everyone,
I am on an internet cafe on the Spirit of Tasmania and we have left Devonport about an hour ago.
The weather has been fantastic and the sea is very calm so the crossing should be great.
The last time we crossed back home we saw some dolphines so I am hope they will visit today and I will get some shots.
The trip has been great with one minor hiccup that I will tell you all bout when I get home.
I hope you have all been well and I will post the pics I have taken soon.
Estimated time of arrival back into Melbourne is 6.00pm tonight, its only 5 to 10am now so plenty of time to spot the dolphins so all send your wishes this way.
Time is running out so I will log off now
talk soon
