Boxing Day

Well christmas day is over for another year. It all went well here. Everyone felt full and happy. The kids all had a ball and it was a pretty relaxed kind of day.
Now today we have christmas with my family at my parents house.
I was very good and only had two glasses of sparkling wine, as my brother in law and his partner announced that they were engaged.
What a great chrismas surprise.
Congratulations to them.

Feeling Hot,Hot,Hot!

The temp today is about 39 dregrees (102 farenheit) So a good day to bale hay.
Buffy is just enjoying the shade. She is a rescued cat that was very neglected and has become the most loyal and loving pet anyone could every ask for.
She will only allow members of our family to pick her up and she is not fond of little boys.
I think they caused her grief before we got her.

This is mushroom She has just enjoyed a nice long drink and is wondering what I am doing with that funny shiny thing in her face.
Stay cool everyone.

This is my first eggplant for the year. Last year I grew some but not this big.
And even though it looks blue its really a purple vest I knitted. I cant read patterns so I made it up as I went along. Turned out ok. I am wearing it now and it fits nicely.
For all the Vic students waiting for there VCE results today goodluck, and remember there is more than one way to get into the course you want, so dont stress.

Lazy sunday morning

I have had a bit of a sleep in this morning and now I am sitting in bed playing on the laptop. Reading blogs and playing on facebook.
It rained overnight and the air comming in the open window is crisp and fresh.
The rooster is crowing and a hen is clucking telling me my breakfast egg is ready.
The sheep and cattle were moved into another paddock yesterday and they are very quiet telling me they are happily munching on the fresh grass.
Today we will be working in the vegetable garden weeding and in the hot house.
Hubby is making noise in the kitchen so I suppose I have to get up now.
Have a great sunday everyone

A close call

Thursday night I had what was promising to be the mother of all migraines. So I took immediate action and got some drugs into me and was asleep by 8.30. Next morning I stayed in be until the morning shows had finished, about 9.00. I then took it slow all day.
I stayed away from the office and just potted around at home. I cooked 7 meals for myself which I froze for when we are eating stuff for dinner I cant have, like pasta. I also folded laundry and did more laundry and knitted.
I again took some drugs last night and I was asleep by 9.30. This seems to have worked as I am awake now and the threatening headache has not materialise.
So now I am blogging and playing on my new addiction, face book. I love playing the games on facebook. So if you have a few spare minutes, get on facebook and play some of the games. I dare you, you will be hooked.

Well the slow progress continues. I only lost another 100grams.
But hey, a loss is a loss and its better than 100 up, right.
Just trying to keep myself positive.
Christmas is progressing here, I have the menu all set for the big luncheon, and We are steadily cleaning up the back entertainment area. But it is raining today and so the weeds will continue to grow at an alarming rate.
How are your preps going?
Have you finished your chrissy shopping?
I only have one small thing to get to add to one persons gift, I made the first part myself.
Then I think I'm done.

Just a quickie

Not much happening here at the moment. We have been busy in the workshop and lots getting done at home, but its not been anything to blog about.
We went fishing yesterday and dear old hubby caught a gummy shark, so lots of flake for the family.
Its been very muggy here and we have had a bit of rain. Enough to keep the gardens going without any help from me. The hothouse needed water, and I gave it a good drink this morning.
The plants in there have gone nuts. The tomatoes are full of fruit, and the capsicums are doing really well. I will be able to harvest some for tea tonight. The tomatoes are only a week or two from ripening.
Its hot at the moment, but the weather people have forcast a cool change with rain.
Just right for sleep.

Concert day!

Today is the end of year concert for dancing.
Baby girl is in 11 dances again this year. Two for each class and one teacher dance.
It is very exciting to see her with her little students. She started to dance just before she turned 4 and now she is teaching kids that age.
She has come along way. We put her in dancing to help her overcome shyness, and now we cant get her off the stage!
Proud mum I am.
The carpet for the craft room has been ordered and the earliest it can go in is Dec 22nd.
So we are cutting it fine as Christmas lunch is here this year.
dear old hubby is at this moment sanding the walls ready to paint.

7 months on.

This is pepper and mushroom today. They follow you around and their tummys are so full they look like they are going to bust. But they are friendly and quiet and love company.
This is pepper and mushroom 7 months ago when we first got them. They were only 5 months old then and very timid. The farm we got them from was very dry and it did not have a blade of green grass on it.
They had never seen grass and didn't know what to do with it. Boy how times have changed for them

Butterfly Kisses

Progress on this quilt has been slow. First I got myself those two jobs and that took alot of my stitching time away.
Then I had to wait for the quilters to have the time to fit me in as they were working on quilts for all the fire victims. Winter was coming so I did not mind having to wait.
So now it is finally finished and although not perfect, I learnt lots.
I really like this finished product.
Its only the second quilt I have made so I am pretty proud of myself.

Quite sunday fishing!

Yesterday we went fishing for the first time this season. We got up early and headed off to launch the boat and spent the day on the water.
I love being in the boat and I always feel very relaxed and refreshed after a day out.
We caught two snapper, and they were a good size, one whiting and another fish but we didn't know what it was.
We then decided to move to another spot.
As we were not planing to stay out too long, and because we left early, I did not pack a lunch. We got hungry and decided to try and catch something we could cook on the boat to eat.
The gods decided to bless us. As soon as we stopped at the new spot, we started catching Flathead.
In about 10 minutes we had caught enough for us to eat. As I kept bringing then in hubby was cleaning them and filleting them and we had the freshest fish for lunch possible.
And last night for dinner we had baked snapper and it was delicious!
Can't wait to go out again.

More photos of the promised harvest

The main vegie garden till, weeded and ready for planting. Since taking this photo we have planted tomatoes, cucumbers and eggplants. This weekend I will plant more seedlings and mulch with cane mulch.
This is the plum tree, king William. It planted next to the plum Angelina. I bought Angelina as its got the same name as me! It said on the tag that if planted next to a King William both trees produced heaps more. So I did and boy are they full.
Plum jam, yummo

This is my blood orange. Its flowers smell wonderful. Its still very small so I may not let the fruit develope. Has anyone got any ideas? should I pull off the fruit, or let them develope. Please let me know.

The latest project

This is what I have been working on lately. First I got the stichery from the internet. Just do a search for free stitchery patterns.
I then changed it a little as she had eggs in her apron and I didn't want them. Then I traced the transfer onto the fabric. I wanted the girls to look at each other so I traced two of them back to front.
I also have a group of little girls, one with a dolls pram, and I have stitched four of those. They will be incorporated into one of the boarders of the quilt.
I have used purple and green as the main part of the girls with red shoes and red flowers in their bonnets.
So the theme will continue on the patchwork part of the quilt and the red will be used as the back and binding.
Will post progress pic's as I go along.

This is a hard post to write. Its the post I have been dreading and the reason I decided to blog about my weight loss.
This week I have gained 400grams.
I don't know why, but I do know two things.
One. Its been a very emotional week for me. Nothing has happened I just have felt very emotional and upset this week and I don't know why.
Two. The magical 80kg barrier has always been a big one for me. Every time I try to lose weight that 80kg is the one I stumble on.
I hope I will do better this week

The big clean out!

The big clean out has begun. As I type two teenagers are cleaning out their rooms.
There are bags of cloths that no longer fit or not wanted any more, so they are being put into bags to be handed down to little cousins, and children of friends of ours.
A lot of the cloths were handed down from older children and so are on their third round of usage.
Any that cannot be handed down are used as rags in the mechanical workshop. We always need rags there.
I have save the old jeans and will use them to make a quilt.
I had better go back and supervise because if I don't they will keep everything and not throw out anything.
They are such hoarders my kids.

Relaxing weekend

I have had a quiet weekend. Started on Friday night with dinner and catch up with some ladies I meet while working at Curves.
Home early, I was home by 9.30, to spend some time with the boys as they were going on their annual golf trip.
They look forward to it all year and dear old hubbys brother goes along as well. Wonderson has been going for a few years now and it has been wonderful for the three of them to bond away form us girls and just be boys.
Baby girl was away on Friday but she came home on Saturday afternoon and we have spent a simple weekend together, reading and watching girlie DVD's.
So this morning I got up early and opened up the workshop and with our mechanic will be running the show until hubby gets back this afternoon.
So have fun everyone, enjoy the week.

Yesterday 5 new little goslings hatched and they were so cute walking around with their parents. The second goose is still sitting on her eggs so hopefully they will hatch soon too.
When they get bigger I will try to sell them and use the money to buy feed for the three breeders I will keep.
I cant keep them all as they do not have enough grass to feed them all.
So the circle of life continues and this years batch of goslings are already bigger than last years. Last year only one goose sat on eggs and she only hatched 4 live ones.

Heading to a happy place

Sorry about the last post. I was not in a happy place. This weather is really getting me down. After a promise of spring I got all excited and motivated to get stuck outside and get some serious gardening done. But now I am stuck inside and I can see the weeds growing right before my eyes.
The AFL grand final is over for another year and unfortunately for the saints fans they did not get the fairy tail ending they wanted. But congratulations to the cats, well done.
And I even enjoyed myself at the wedding last night, as I always do. I am a homebody and the thought of getting dressed up and going out is always hard for me, but once I get to the destination I always enjoy my self.
Meanwhile on the home improvement front, dear old hubbies concrete mate said he can do the job next week so hopefully the weather improves for that.
Enjoy you Sunday, I know will have a quiet one.

Shake Rattle and Roll

Boy this year the earth has move for me. Last night at 6.20pm we had two very significant earthquakes that actually was a bit scary.
They were not particularly strong on according to the news, only 2.5 and 3.0 but they were not far from here and only a little way down in the earth.
The epicenter was only a few klms away. Just 3 minutes by car! Thats a little too close for comfort.

Busy doing stuff

Busy day today, wonderson and I cleaned out the chicken coup and put it all on the compost heap. Dear old hubby and I wormed the goats and he cleaned up the neglected vegetable garden out the back.
He bought himself a new self propelled rotary hoe and he had dug the garden over in a very short time!
Money well worth spent.
Jobs this afternoon will be to put down the crushed rock so the concrete floor can be poured next week.
Windows will be ready early the week after and then my craft room will be ready for me to paint soon after that.
I hope.
Picked up the new sewing machine yesterday, and bought the second hand overlocker home too.
So very exciting here.
I have so many projects I want to start and I can't wait.

Bargain!!

Cusion covers are now finished except for sewing on the buttons.
Craft room has been measured and windows are being ordered as I type this.
I have put on layby my new quilters sewing machine. I got an absolute bargain. The normal price for the machine is $2700.00, but my teacher who owns the store, told me to hang on as she felt that it would go on sale for christmas.
Well today they saw that the price did drop, but much more than even she expected.
$1999.00. I quickly ordered one and paid the deposit. Because I had saved the $2700.00 to spend I was able to order the sewing table that goes with it for $500.00. That means I still have $200.00 left.
Now I can buy lots more material to make more quilts.
I love a bargain don't you

Week 2 On Tony Ferguson

Had my weigh in this morning and I have lost one kilo this week.
So pretty happy with my self.
Worked at Crystal World yesterday as an emergency fill in.
I had lots of crackle quartz that I had to put into kilo boxes. Very pretty in their pinks and purples, and various other colours.
But being man made the dye was coming off them and onto my hands.
Not pretty! Still lots of people love them.
Not much else happening around here just the usual, I have got lots of seedling to plant out into the vegetable garden so I might get stuck in and get that done.

My new room.

As I type I can hear the hammering and banging going on outside. This is because dear old hubby and wonderson are pulling up the decking on part of the deck which will be enclosed and built as a sewing room for me.
I am 42 years old and have never had a room of my own. I have always shared with my sister and now my husband.
