optometrist visit.

Yesterday I had an eye exam, and yes I need glasses. The optometrist said my eyes were very healthy and that me needing glasses was just one of those things that happen as we get old.
NICE!!!!!

So now I feel great. Thanks lady you made my day.
All well, cant fight it so I'll just try and accept it.
YEAH RIGHT.

Dont worry, just me and my issues again.
This empty nest syndrome is really hard. Baby girl passes her hazards perception test, so now all she needs is to pass the driving test and no-one will need me any more.

Might be time to get more pets.

SURPRISE!!!!

Last night we had a surprise birthday party for a good friend. Her birthday was actually on Friday but it was organised it for Saturday night. We all avoided her on Friday so that we could not let the cat out of the bag, so of course we were all the worst friends on the planet. It was made worse because her sister had put balloons all down her driveway and she thought we had organised a party for her then.
But when no-one turned up she got upset.
Then on Saturday night her sister said that they should go out to dinner at the local RSL, to perk her up.
When she walked in and we all yelled surprise! she nearly had a heart attack.
Well we are now the best friends ever again, and we all had a ball.
It was great to catch up with people we hadn't seen in a long time. We all get so busy.
So today will be spent just relaxing and getting over a late night.
Not the party animal I once was.

Animal Update

Our ram, Basil, has beautiful horns that grow in circles. Just like princes Leah in star wars! Unfortunately one horn was growing into the side of his head so we had to cut it away. This was not easy.
First you have to catch the ram.
It was very funny seeing four grown men chasing a ram around.LOL!
Then you have to hold that ram down, again very strong ram, not easy.
Then using a hacksaw cut off the tip of the horn.

This is just like us cutting out nail, apparently. But it does bleed. Not a nice thing to watch. It gave me nightmares.
But the ram was not too distressed and got a huge feed of hay after the ordeal, which he ate with gusto so I think the only one with lasting trauma was me.

It would of been worse if we had left it. It could of continued growing and entered into his brain.
Not a nice thing.

Anywho, off to quilting class.

The sounds of silence

This morning I had a little sleep in and have started on today's chores in an unrushed manner. Is that even a word?
Everyone is at work or school and I am here alone in the house. That's actually how I like it. It is so quiet that all I can hear are the birds outside. Even the many animals that we own have been feed and are nice and content.
This peace will not last long but I will enjoy it while it does.
The end of the week is going to be hectic with two full days at work and me going out two nights in a row.
I am a party animal this week.
Have fun everyone!

Thank God its Friday

Have had a busy week, working extra shifts to cover holidays. Yesterday at Crystal World I was all alone, but got heaps done.
Today I'm doing a double shift at Curves.
So I am up early to try and take the "rush, rush" feeling out of my day.
The house is a bomb sight but there is nothing I can do about it right now, so it will stay that way till at least Saturday morning.
I was suppose to work but another co-worker rang and asked if I could swap with her,
So at least I will get a sleep in tomorrow now.

Mothers Day

Mothers day started out sad for me as I was childless. Both my offspring had been out on Saturday and spent the night at someone else' s house. So dear old hubby made me some bacon and eggs for breakfast and we headed out to see our mothers.

When we got home baby girl was here and she had decided to clean the living areas for me.
So after I got my pressie from her and my card from the wonder son, I cooked us all a lamb roast.

Then the kids cleaned up and we sat and watched my videos that I got.
Two Vicar of Dibley DVDs.
I just love Dawn French.

I hope everyone had a great Mothers Day!

check list

checklist of jobs completed on Sunday

Chook pen cleaned and fresh straw added.

Gate way to permiculture area now cleared of overgrown bushes and vine.
No more showers while trying to get through.

Hot house cleared of old pumpkin vine and weeded.
Found a snake skin in there, nice warm place to shed your skin apparently.

Tried to till the soil in hothouse but tiller did not start.

Fix the tiller and get it going.

Tilled the soil in the hothouse.

feed all the wast produced to the livestock. Thus it isn't really wast, it's feed.

Moved the livestock into the other paddock to let the first paddock rest.

Re did the electric fence higher so sheep could not jump over it.
Sheep still able to jump, they jump high you know.
Still need to re do the fences, again.

Mowed the back yard.

Split some more firewood.

Boy are we tired.

Stockpiling

Rhonda Jean from down to earth, has posted many times about stockpiling. She mainly talks about being able to live out of your pantry and so you don't kneed to shop every week. This way you cut down on the number of spur of the moment purchases you make. Also if you got sick or your weekly income stopped or dropped for a while you could continue to eat and put all your resources into paying all your other bills, and not worry about food. But now the government wants all of us to have a stockpile of at least two weeks in case the swine flu hits our shores.
If you are new to stockpiling I urge you to read Rhonda's blog. Its a great one for learning all the long forgotten skills we will all need to get through the next few years.
Meanwhile, I was going to live out of my pantry this month, but now have decided to postpone this until a latter date.
So my stockpile is intact, what about yours?
