Hello trendsetters

I just heard on the morning show that being frugal, cooking from scratch, knitting, sewing and generally being a tightwad is the new black.
Apparently these things are becoming trendy.
Well Dah!!!!

So to all the cheapskates, tightwads, and penny pinches,
Good on you, we have started a new trend.
Keep it up.

Earth Hour

Has everyone turned off the lights for earth hour?
I just had a bubble bath by candle light.
The house is lit by candles and it looks great. I could live like this forever. The family would have something to say about that.
Have a great night in and enjoy the romantic lighting.

Thinking out loud

Yesterday did not go to plan. First off I did not just chillaxe on the couch. I did Ironing, some sewing and lots of running around.
Then I got a txt saying that dancing was cancelled due to teacher illness. So I did not make chicken soup, but I made chicken kievs for the whole family.
To make the whole day worse, I am still fighting some bug, that is manifesting in so many varied ways,
I will not go into details but its not nice.
Off to work this morning. I have discovered that I really enjoy being the homemum, and miss it terribly. All the people that told me I should get a job to keep myself occupied, because the kids are older now and what do I do all day, really have no idea the bliss I find in the mundaine day to day tasks that I do.
Even I did not realise just how much I used to do everyday. Only now that I'm not here to get them all done do I see it. I'm pondering these things and I am re-evaluating my situation.
Time to go,
have a great day

A day off.

Finally a day to myself.
I might do some sewing, or some knitting, or I might even lay on the couch and watch DVD's all day.
I do not feel all that good so that might be the way to go.
Some nice, hot, homemade chicken soup is what I want. So apart from making that and taking the babygirl to her dance class latter today, that may well be all I do.

A big thankyou

Thank you to Lisa and Cathy for your comments. Yes a solution to my rant has appeared. I am changing my Monday at crystal world for Thursday now making Monday my one day off a week. This means I am home to be taxi driver for the baby girl.
When she gets her license it will go back to normal scheduling.
I truly work with wonderful people who are willing to work around me and my family. I even get to rotate my Wednesday shift at curves until the blessed day the baby girl can drive.
I'm sure we will all breath a sigh of relief when that day comes.
I think?
Thanks for letting my rave.
Have a great day.

Guilt

Oh the guilt!
Baby girl has been asked to help teach her dance teachers classes as she is very pregnant. This means she has to be in Pakenham by 4.00pm.
She doesn't get home till 4.00 so the solution is to pick her up at school and take her straight to class. Only problem is I'm at work till 5.00pm.
I could ask to have Mondays off until she get her license but that means the other girl that works there would be working 7 days a week again.
Her dad could do it but it means leaving work, and customers, to do it.
Her brother could do it but the same thing, he will be leaving us short handed at the business.
Guilt, Guilt, Guilt.
Why is motherhood all about guilt.
She really wants to do this, and I really want her to do this. It will be good for her.
I will find a solution.
But right now, I want to move to a small cabin, on top of a mountain and live all by myself,
No responsibility, No guilt.

The earth moved.......again

Yes folks, it happened again. Another earthquake. Same place and nearly the same magnitude.
I was at work this time and it sounded like the walls were going to fall down.
I don't know whats going on on planet earth but gee whiz, shes not happy Jan.

The best plans!

Today I was going to go out into the garden and start to clear all the old plants ready for the new. But alas I woke up with a very stuffy head and sore achy body so I will concentrate on the inside only. I cannot get sick now, on Saturday baby girl and her best friend are having a combined 18th at my house. Baby girl will be 18 on 11th April, and her lovely friend, my other daughter, turned 18 on the 4th march.
Yesterday I brought a portable carport to add to our back veranda which will be the dance area, and we will be picking up some extra outdoor furniture from another of her friends. The girls have organised it all, which has been great for us.
I only hope I can survive the 40-50 teenagers that will be here.
I have organised a family barbecue for Sunday the 12th of April for her real birthday.
Boy is she lucky, two birthdays.
I'm so good to my family, they should really be grateful.

sound relief

Yesterday was absolutely fantastic. Very long, not as young as I used to be, but great.
The day was kicked off by Jet, and included in the line up Crowed House, Split Enz, Hunters and Collectors, and Midnight Oil.
Many many bands lined up to give of their time in both Melbourne and Sydney.
Now I know I asked for it not to rain, but, I think the gods got the wrong message.
It didn't rain, it poured. We started the day all nicely dressed with the hair done and the face on. Only a few hours into the day, we were wet and bedraggled.
It didn't matter as we all looked the same and we were having a ball. It was a very mixed crowd with the young rocking to the Kings of Leon and some hip hop band, and us oldies grooving to Paul Kelly.
We left the MCG just as the oils were finishing at aroung 10.00pm, and I walked in the front door at 12.30am.
Very tired, very wet and very pumped up.
It will be a day I will never forget.
During the day the news came through that because of the rain, all the fires were officially now out.
The crowd roared.

This was the best part of the day.

Ready for a great day!

I'm off to sound relief. Its the concert to raise money for the fire and flood victims.
I lucked out because a friends husband had to work, the joys of owning your own business. So she rang me and asked if I would like to go.
I didn't even need the think music.
So we are catching the early train, at 8.00 am to get to the city.
I'll blog all about it tomorrow. Please even though we need it, I don't want it to rain today.
Not in Melbourne anyway, It can rain in the country were they desperately need it.

Busy as bees

On Monday we had a public holiday and so, as the weather was cooler we had a big clean up.
Inside and out!
Inside we girls did a big spring clean including all light fixtures. Boy do they sparkle now.
Outside the boys cleaned up along the front of the house under the veranda. All the pots that had not made it through the heat were taken away, their potting mix put into a small trailer and will be recycled by adding yummy compost to it and put back into pots. Over winter I will endeavor to replant them with lots of herbs and hope next summer will be kinder to us all.
The vegetable gardens will be next. I will pull everything up, and let them rest for a couple of weeks before starting the planting of the winter crop.
Here's hoping that we get lots of rain.

did the earth move for you?

Well it did for us. A 4.6 earthquake was felt all through melbourne, including here. The epicenter was at Kurumburra, a 45 minute drive from here. But according to the news it was felt for about 100 km radius.
Now in Australia we have had,
Floods- water
Gales-wind
Fire- fire
and now
earth quake- earth.
what is going on?
If you know let us all in on it. Is it now over or should we expect more.

The change in weather has soothed my soul. When it started raining yesterday it almost made me cry.
Sookie la la arnt I.
But I was so happy. It even rained on the fires in bunyip, not too far from here.
I hope this means it will soon be over.

Officially feed up

Yep I'm over this weather, well and truly.
This morning at 6.00 am it was already hot and the sun hadn't even risen yet. The wind is wipping up all the sand and sandblasting everyone in its way.
And there is lots of sand and soil that is about because all the green stuff (I think its called grass) is dead from lack of water.
It is so depressing seeing all that brown. I really need to see bright green again. I can understand the farmers that have gone away just to get a glimpse of some green ground again.
Its heart breaking.
But we will hang in there, meanwhile on the fire front, the warning reports keep comming. Everyone in Victoria got a txt message yesterday warning us of the extreme fire danger today.
So we are all on alert. This too is very upsetting. Its like waiting for a bomb to go off. The tension and stress is begining to show on many faces.
we are all preparing for a quick getaway if it needs be. Many friends had their trailers on there cars so they can put their horses in and go. Many others have kept kids home from school and even others are taking their pets to work with them.
If this isnt over soon we will all need valium, or a bex and a lie down at the least.
