today we spent out on the water and it was nice to be able to sit in the sun and catch some fish. hubby wanted to go out of westernport and into the ocean. I was a little scared at first but I did it. He on the other hand didnt have breakfast and spent some time with his head over the side of the boat as it was very choppy and the rocking and rolling made him sick. He felt much better after a sleep. we also got going and headed back into the bay where the water was alot calmer.
And this is what we got, six nice flathead which hubby is now cooking up for our dinner.
hope you all have a great weekend and for those in queensland stay dry and safe.

not a good day out on the bay

Here is hubby with the fish I caught. The weather was terrible. Wind, waves and rain. I was very happy to catch this guy. not a bad size for whiting. I did get one bite that broke off my line, hubby laughed as he said the look on my face was priceless. Watch the video to see how choppy it was out there.

a day on the Bay

Well not really the bay, Westernport to be exact. It the first time we took the boat out this season and it was great to be back on the water. I dont know if you can see it, if you click on the photo it will get bigger. There were heaps of boats out today. At one stage it looked like a fleet was invading there were so many.
I had a feeling that we were going to be visited by the water police so I checked to make sure that I had my fishing license on me. Well bugger me if not 40 minutes later the police pulled up beside us and told us we had to move as a huge tanker was on its way. Hubby now wants me to predict the Lotto numbers. lol
This is the tanker, it had two pilot boats with it and lucky the water police to clear its path as like I said there were hundreds of boats in the water.
Hubby and I both caught a Flathead each and a dont-know-what-sort-of-fish-this-is-but-it-makes-great-bait-fish each. So the tally for this year is dead even.
Lets hope I win as I have a reputation to uphold.
hope you all had a great sunday

Meltdown

Leanne had a meltdown today. We got some bad news on Wednesday at the oncologist and it finally hit her. It was something else that set her off but it was the news that keep her crying. So we decided to relax and enjoy life a little so we went fishing. This is at Tooradin river, and we picked a nice shady spot. The river is tidal and there wasnt alot of water so you had to cast out pretty far. Leanne didnt know how to cast so I showed her and let her have a go. Well what a laugh, it went everywhere but were she wanted it to go. Eventually she cast into a tree and the line broke. So at this stage I was nearly wetting myself with laughter so we decided to pack up and go home. Which was good timing really as baby girls new car was ready to be picked up. So lee and I went and got that.
But thats another story for another day

A productive day fishing.

The weather was glorious and the water was so calm. There were heaps of boats out on the water and we were all hoping to catch some fish.
This was one of the many jelly fish that were in the water. I was worried about them with the boats prop, but they seemed quite content and avoided all the boats.

14 flathead, there the ones we kept. Flathead have to be 27centermeters to be legal. We caught heaps that were just under that. They all got thrown back to be caught another day.
While waiting for dear hubby to get the car so we could load up the boat I was waiting by the pier. I noticed these little fish swarming under the pier. There were some slightly larger ones too and I realised they were baby whiting. Ummm I wonder how long they take to grow big enough to eat. hahah

Fishing and Camping

over the long weekend we went camping and fishing at Port Albert. We went with another couple and we had a great time. This is Sue sitting by her tent.
This is our tent, its called the 30second tent as thats how long it takes to put up. And it really does!
Its just perfect for two, but when the kids were little we all slept in it. Lots of good time were had in this tent.

You can just see Keith and sue waving to us from their boat.

This is Dear Hubby launching our boat ready for a days fishing. More shots tomorrow.
what did you do this weekend?

Fishing for snapper

while we were driving to Phillip Island I spotted this car. Has anyone seen the National Lampoons Christmas Vacation movie?  It reminded me of one of the scenes in the movie. I laughed really loudly and could hardly take the shot.

The San Remo bridge, on one side is San Remo and on the other is Phillip Island. Beautifu isnt it?
From the water looking at San Remo, great views from the houses. My brother in law live in one and I just sit in his lounge and watch the water the whole time we are there.

We also had a great day fishing, we caught 7 snapper and had a great laugh. Its a 45 minute drive from our house to here. We left home at 3.30pm and got back at 7.00pm, A great afternoons work!

First fishing trip of the season

Today the weather was sunny and not too windy, so we decided to take the boat out for a run. Baby girls boyfriend has been itching to go out, but unfortunately everytime we plan to go it been blowing a gale and it would not have been pleasant or safe.
So this morning we rang him up and ask if he would like to go.
So we packed some food, and out we went. It was very nice out in westernport, so much so that there were boats everywhere.
We caught some flatheads, with most being too small and us having to throw them back in.
But it was really nice to be out again. I have missed it all winter. so now the bug has bitten again and I cannot wait to go out again.
Roll on summer!

Silly Me

yesterday hubby and I went fishing for the afternoon. All good some fish were caught and we had a great day.
Till I got home and had a shower. My face was bright red. I had forgotton to put on sunscreen on it. I had covered up everywhere else. I even had on youbeaut sunglasses. So now I look like I am wearing goggles. Around my eyes the skin is white and the rest of my face is beet red.
So now I am feeling very sorry for myself. The kids think its hilarious and keep laughing everytime they look at me.
Well Im glad I can brighten their lives. Good to see they find my pain funny.
HAHA
So I am hiding inside today and putting nutri rich oil on my face.
I will never forget again.
