Last minute projects

Today I decided that I wanted new dishcloths for the van so I have been very busy knitting up these. One is finished and even though you cant tell is blue and Im working on the green one now. I thought Id take a break and show you.
Getting excited now, only two more sleeps till we leave. The plan is tomorrow we will do the fresh food shop,as all canned and dry food has been packed into the van. Then tomorrow night we have babygirls mid year dance concert and then, Sunday morning bright and early we hit the road.
Cannot wait! The weather here is very cold, windy and wet so I am looking forward to the warmer and dryer temps in central and northern Australia!
stay tuned for the pics

STOP Nana time

After a busy morning I got home and had a nana nap. I didn't mean to I just sat down for a minute and the next thing I knew I had been asleep for 45 minutes. After my little sleep I was still tired so I decided to work on my granny squares blankie. I made the squares last winter and I have spent this winter putting them together. I haven't been very productive so I will take this project with me on the big road trip and hopefully get lots done.
After working on this for a little while I was rested enough to help wonderson deliver a truck back to the customers house.
I don't care how old he gets, he turned 23 yesterday, I will never get used to seeing him drive trucks.

Getting ready

Well I have spent the last couple of days getting the van ready for the big trip. We have had some issues with the new caravan and hubby has taken it back to where it was made to have them fixed. I am not happy you buy a brand new van the take months to make it and then its not done properly. If I ran my business like that we would be broke now! But only one electrical issue and it I'll be ready, I hope! But I choose to think of only the good so right now I am washing clothes so that they dry in plenty of time for me to pack into the van. All the cupboards are full of canned and dry foods and the bed is made, so I'm more than half way. The weather here is still cold and wet! So I am really looking forward to getting into the desert, I am so over all this mud. The washing machine is calling me so I'll be off for now get ready to come on my adventure with me very soon we leave on th 1st, that's this Sunday morning. See ya

Flooding rains

Well the rains have been coming and coming and the poor little country town of KooWeeRup has flooded again. My kids used to go to school in KooWee and that's where my quilting classes are. I will ring the shop to make sure they are ok and that no water has entered into the shop as soon as I finish posting this post..
There are lots of road closures around not only here in the south east but all over Victoria.  More rain is predicted and its expected to be week for the rest of next week.
Good weather for ducks!
Stay warm, dry and safe everyone

Winter solstice

A happy solstice to everyone, here in the southern hemisphere a winter solstice. And in the northern hemisphere a summer solstice
Here in Melbourne, its cold, and wet! Very very wet. The front has flooded but thank goodness its nowhere near the house.
So the wheel turns and soon the sun will shine again and the days will lengthen.
blessed be

dinos attack

: Leanne and I  decided to go to crystal world and get some crystals for her. I used to work there so I get on really well with the owners. he loves dinosaurs  and he has these set up in his yard. so we thought we get some fun shots. We had a laugh and boy did we need it. We did not have a good day at the hospital, which is a post  for another  day.
So even though we had a strong wind and we could hardly stand we got these, not very artistic but we had fun.

Earthquake

I was lying on the couch contemplating going to be when the whole house started to shake! We have had a few earthquakes here over the years but this one was the strongest and lasted the longest. It was a 5.2 and the epicentre was not far from here at moe. That woke me up and now I'm wide awake and it will be a little while before I get back to my sleepy stage. Facebook went nuts and people all over the state felt it! I love Facebook I had found out everything I needed to know abut the quake and I still haven't seen or heard anything on the tv. So if you live in Victoria and felt it let us know. See ya.

Rock of ages

On Thursday leanne, her sister Melissa and I saw the movie rock of ages. It's been canned by the critics but we enjoyed it. Now let me just say Im not a huge fan of Tom Cruise, but he was very very good in the roll.He  must of worked hard because he looked and sounded amazing. We loved it so much we walked out of the cinemas and straight into the record store to buy the soundtrack. I have it in my car and had been singing really loudly  to it! Drives the hubby insane! Lol It's not a serious movie its just a fun flick and if you loved the 80's and it's music you will enjoy it. So as Molly says do yourself a favour and go see it. I'm pretty sure you will  not regret it. Oh yeah don't do like leanne did and sing loud during the movie, for one if your sister is with you, you will constantly be told to shut up. For another you may get some not so nice looks from the other viewers. Lucky she has a bald head due  to chemo and people give her the sympathy look instead. See ya

Knitting scarfs

this is the pattern for the new thing in scarfs, it looks so good I knew I had to try and knit one.
this is my scarf so far, its long but I still have wool left on the ball. The pattern says one ball makes one scarf.
This is a close up of the scarf, your not actually knitting wool its like a kind on lace and you  knit through the loops. Its kinda awkward at first but you get the hang of it
I was given a purple one as a gift and loved it so much I wanted to make my own. I also got the pink variegated on to knit up. Even though you cannot knit fast, or it will all just make a mess in your hands, it does grow quickly so it would be a great one to get kids addicted to the craft.
I love winter when you can sit in a snugly warm house and knit don't you!

Sliding doors

It is often said that when one door closes another opens. Well I can feel the breeze of that open door just on my feet. Although one chapter of my life has ended I can feel the stirrings of the next and I'm getting curious and a little excited to see what it holds for me! I have been a little down with all the endings lately, but, like the dawning of a new day the sun is slowly getting brighter! So bring it on, I ready!! On Saturday we pick up our brand new caravan, and I will start to get it ready for the big trip. Baby girl, who is no longer a baby. It will always be my babygirl, has a mid year dance concert on June 30th so the next day we will head off towards Adelaide. I'm getting pretty excited now. Maybe this empty nest thing is alright. Venus transit 2012

The second Venus transit is happening right now! I am waiting for the sun to rise about the patch of cloud so that I can see the start of it.
I have an old piece of welding glass that fell out of the mask that hubby found for me and I will be taking it with me to the hospital today.
I will pop out to keep and eye on the transit.
The next one isn't till 2117 so I don't think I will be around for that one!
If your able get outside and have a look, its something to tell your grand kids about.

Good bye

The day has come for us to say a finally goodby to the matriarch of our family. It's going to be hard, still so many things she could of taught me, still so many stories she could of shared. I suppose there really is never enough time with someone you love. So rest now my beautiful grandmother, may angels guide you on your journey.
